You set off in the afternoon. Pickup happens between 14:30 and 16:30<\/strong> depending on where you are staying, and we email you the exact time and meeting point after booking.<\/p>\n At the base station you ride the cable car up to over 3,000 m above sea level<\/strong>. From there a trail leads to the Pico Viejo<\/strong> viewpoint. It is a 40-minute return walk<\/strong> of medium to low difficulty. The view takes in the south of Tenerife and, when the air is clear, the neighbouring islands on the horizon.<\/p>\n Just before sunset, Teide casts its pyramid-shaped shadow across the landscape. That is the moment people come up here in the afternoon rather than the morning.<\/p>\n Back at the bottom there is a picnic-style dinner, and then Starlight guides set up the long-range telescopes<\/strong>. You look at planets, galaxies and star clusters while the guide explains exactly what you are seeing. On a full-moon night the eyepiece shows craters and lunar mountain ranges.<\/p>\n It suits people who want to see Teide in a different way than at midday, in a crowd and in short sleeves. You need to be in reasonable shape, because the route uses paths and steps.<\/p>\n We do not recommend it for anyone in poor health, for example with anaemia, heart conditions or breathing problems, or for people with reduced mobility. Pregnant women cannot ride the cable car.<\/strong> Children under 8 cannot take part in this tour.<\/strong><\/p>\n The tour is led by an English-speaking guide<\/strong>. Transfers cover hotels in Costa Adeje, Playa de las Am\u00e9ricas, Los Cristianos, La Caleta, Callao Salvaje, Playa Para\u00edso, Los Gigantes and Puerto de Santiago, plus Puerto de la Cruz in the north. We do not pick up in El M\u00e9dano or Golf del Sur, so from there you make your own way to a meeting point such as Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje.
