La Palma is the greenest of the Canary Islands and the only one where you can stand beside a lava flow that cooled just a few years ago. In one day you take in the island capital, the Tajogaite volcano and La Palma’s most important sanctuary, with the ferry and the coach doing the travelling for you.<\/p>\n
Sightseeing starts once the ferry docks in Santa Cruz de La Palma<\/strong>. The historic centre of the capital is all cobbled streets, the carved wooden balconies typical of Canarian architecture, and Plaza de Espa\u00f1a with the old church of El Salvador.<\/p>\n From there you head to the Tajogaite volcano<\/strong>, formed during the eruption of 2021. It is a rare chance to see a landscape shaped within the current generation, and to hear how the eruption changed life in this part of the island. Fields of lava sitting right next to houses stay with you.<\/p>\n After the volcano there is a break for lunch in a local restaurant, included in the price<\/strong>. Afterwards you visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Snows<\/strong>, patron saint of La Palma. Bring an ID card or passport<\/strong>, as you will not board the ferry without one. Children under 3 are charged 25 euros.<\/p>\n The mountains run cooler than the Tenerife coast, so a light fleece or jacket earns its place even on a hot day.
