About this experience

A helicopter flight is the quickest way to see Tenerife whole: ravines, cliffs and the volcano in one go. There are five routes, from seven minutes over the south coast to 45 minutes and 120 kilometres around Teide. You depart from a landing pad near Adeje, and the difference between routes is not only time but an entirely different part of the island.

Five routes to choose from

Route 1, Costa del Sur, 7 to 8 minutes, 20 km, 98 euro per person. A panorama of the south coast taking in La Caleta, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos, plus the ravines right beside the resort area. A sensible choice for a first flight.

Route 2, beaches and ravines, 10 to 12 minutes, 30 km, 145 euro per person. Everything on route one plus the Golf Costa Adeje course, the lava flow running down to the sea from Montaña de Guaza, Roque del Conde, Barranco del Aqua and El Puertito.

Route 3, Los Gigantes, 18 to 20 minutes, 50 km, 279 euro per person. A flight up the west coast through Playa San Juan, Alcalá and Puerto de Santiago to the Los Gigantes cliffs, which rise to 600 metres. From the air you see their full height, which no boat trip can show you.

Route 4, the island from above, 25 to 30 minutes, 85 km, 390 euro per person. The south meets the green north-west here: Teno, Buenavista del Norte, Garachico, Los Silos and Icod de los Vinos, with the return leg over the forest crown of Teide National Park.

Route 5, the flight over Teide, 40 to 45 minutes, 120 km, 495 euro per person. The longest option, adding the La Orotava wine valley, Puerto de la Cruz, Güímar, the alpine zone of Vilaflor and the lava tongues left at Santiago del Teide by the 1909 eruption. Teide, the highest peak in Spain, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.

Who it suits

This is for people who want photographs they cannot take from the ground and who are comfortable in a small cabin. Children can fly from the age of two. If you dislike tight spaces, or you are looking for a cheap way to fill an hour, choose something else: the flight is short and the price climbs with the route.

Practical details

The helicopter has four seats, one beside the pilot and three behind. You cannot reserve a specific seat, because the crew places passengers according to the weight balance of the aircraft. Flights may be shared with other customers. If you want the aircraft to yourselves, buy four tickets.

The weight limit per passenger is 110 kilograms. Above that, a surcharge of 50 percent of the price applies. In poor weather the route is modified, but the number of minutes and kilometres agreed stays the same. If the departure time has to change, we call the number given at booking.

This booking cannot be cancelled. In the event of cancellation the full price is charged, so choose your date carefully. Your ticket with all the details, the time and the meeting point arrives within 24 hours of booking.

If you are torn between routes, message us and we will point you to the one that matches what you want to see.
