Jungle Park
About this experience
Jungle Park is a zoo you walk through rather than one where you file past a row of cages. The animals live inside 75,000 square metres of jungle, with real waterfalls, caves and lagoons. The ticket stays valid for two weeks, so you go on whichever day suits you.
What you will see
The park is in the south of Tenerife and opens daily from 10:00 to 17:00. The route runs through dense planting, over bridges and past pools, and the animals appear as you go rather than waiting in marked enclosures.
Residents include vultures, hawks, eagles and falcons, alongside wild cats, armadillos and alligators. Birds are the real strength here, and you see them well beyond the aviaries.
The birds of prey flight displays are what many people come for. Vultures pass a few metres above the audience, which is a very different thing from watching them through mesh.
Who this suits
It makes a calm day out for families with children and for anyone who wants a break from the beach without switching into full sightseeing mode. It is not a theme park though: there are no slides and no rides. If you need somewhere the children will physically wear themselves out, a water park will serve you better.
A visit means a few hours of walking, some of it uphill, so comfortable shoes matter more here than usual.
Practical details
The ticket is valid for 2 weeks from the purchase date and you do not pick a day when you buy it. You turn up when the weather and your plans line up. Children under 3 enter free, but they still need to be added to the order.
Driving is the easiest way to reach the park. There is a paid car park at the entrance, and if you arrive early in the morning you will find free spaces along the road. Buy now and choose the day once you are on the island.
