Treasures of the North - sightseeing tour with a Polish-speaking guide from the south
About this experience
One day to see the part of Tenerife nobody drives to from a southern resort on a whim. Four stops, a guide working in Polish throughout the day and an air-conditioned coach. The tour runs on Wednesdays only, from hotels in the south of the island.
What you see along the way
You begin at Candelaria on the east coast. The basilica here holds the figure of the Black Madonna, patron saint of the Canary Islands, and beside it lies a dark volcanic beach. That combination is hard to mistake for anywhere on mainland Europe.
The second stop is La Laguna, the island’s historic capital and a university city. Its colonial old town is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. From this side of the island you also see Teide from the north, a completely different view from the one the southern resorts get.
Then the road climbs into the Anaga mountains, the oldest part of the island, cut through with ravines and covered in laurel forest, where some villages were effectively cut off from the rest of Tenerife for years. The route runs on hairpins with viewpoints along the way.
Last comes Santa Cruz, the modern capital, and a walk through its shopping district. There is also a lunch break at a typical Canarian restaurant during the day. The cost of lunch is not included in the tour price.
Who this is for (and who it is not)
It suits anyone who wants to see the island beyond the resorts and would rather have someone explain what they are looking at. It works for families too, because the day breaks into shorter legs between stops.
It is still a full day on a coach, including mountain hairpins in Anaga. If winding roads do not agree with you, or you want a trip with a single destination and a long stop, choose something else. The order of the stops can change with the weather and road conditions.
Practical information
We collect you from your hotel or nearby if you are staying in Los Gigantes, Puerto de Santiago, Alcalá, Callao Salvaje, Playa Paraíso, La Caleta, Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos or Golf del Sur. The exact time and meeting point are emailed to you within 24 hours of booking.
Write the name of your hotel in the order notes, because without it we cannot arrange the pickup. The notes field appears once you go to checkout. You are back at your hotel in time for dinner.
Cancellation is free up to 72 hours before the start, with a 100% refund. If you are not sure whether your base is within the pickup area, write to us before booking.

Yes. The day is split into four shorter legs between stops, so nobody sits on the coach for hours on end. Bear in mind, though, that the drive through the Anaga mountains follows hairpin bends, which can be hard going for anyone prone to travel sickness.
