About this experience

Three hours on a large, stable catamaran in waters where pilot whales stay all year round. The crew explains what you are looking at as you go. After the wildlife watching there is time to swim in the ocean, and a snack and drinks are included.

What happens on this cruise

We sail daily from Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje and head for the coastal strip where the chance of an encounter is highest. We do not push far out into open water, so the ride is gentler than trips out to Los Gigantes.

The species you are most likely to meet are pilot whales, large members of the dolphin family that live here permanently. They are curious and regularly come in close to the boat. With a little luck you may also see larger whales, bottlenose dolphins, sea turtles or flying fish.

The crew talks about the cetacean species you are watching, what they feed on and how they migrate in search of food, so you are not guessing at what is in front of you. Commentary is also given in Polish.

After the watching there is time to swim in the Atlantic and sunbathe. From the deck you also see the Costa Adeje coastline from the water, including beaches no road reaches.

Who this is for (and who it is not)

It is the safest pick for families with small children. The catamaran is big and stable, there is plenty of room, and you can bring a pushchair or a baby carrier on board. It also suits anyone worried about seasickness, because it rolls noticeably less than a small boat.

If you want a small group and an intimate atmosphere, the small catamaran cruise fits better. This one carries more people, and the deck feels like it.

Practical information

The cruise lasts 3 hours and runs daily from Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje. Guests staying in Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos, Callao Salvaje, Playa Paraíso and Golf del Sur get a free transfer to the marina; just tick that option on the booking form.

The price includes a snack and drinks: beer, wine, water and soft drinks. Sun loungers are a paid extra on board, at 20 euros for a two-person lounger. Our team checks the weather before every departure. Cancellation is free up to 72 hours before the start with a 100% refund.

If you cannot decide between the large and the small catamaran, write to us and we will advise based on your group.
