A four hour catamaran cruise from Puerto Rico that starts by looking for dolphins and whales. Then cliffs and sea caves, a stop for swimming and snorkelling, lunch and an open bar on board.

About this experience

The dolphin watching catamaran cruise is four hours on the south coast of Gran Canaria. It starts with a search for dolphins and whales in their natural habitat, then follows the cliffs, with a stop for swimming and lunch on board.

What you do on this cruise

The first part of the trip is spent looking for dolphins and whales. The waters south of the island are one of the few places in Europe where cetaceans stay all year, but these are wild animals, so no sighting is guaranteed.

The catamaran then sails along the coast. From the deck you see steep cliffs, sea caves and wild beaches that no road reaches. A good moment for photographs, or for lying in the sun.

At the stop you get into the water. You can swim in the ocean and look at the bottom with a mask and snorkel. Extra water sports are available for a fee, and at the end of the stop everyone who wants to takes a ride on the banana boat, which is included in the price.

There is a bar on board. Lunch and open bar drinks are covered by the ticket, so there is no need to bring your own food or drink.

Who it suits

This cruise works for couples, families and groups of friends who want to combine wildlife with a swim and a slow afternoon. Children have their own ticket price from the age of 2.

If you get seasick easily, or you want a quiet trip in a small group, consider a small yacht or a private charter instead. A catamaran means a bigger group and more going on around you.

This cannot be guaranteed, because the dolphins and whales here live in the wild. The cruise starts by looking for them in the waters south of the island, where they are seen all year round, but a sighting always depends on the weather and on luck.
