VIP Tour with a Polish-Speaking Guide (max 8 people) - Western Tenerife: Masca, Garachico, Icod
About this experience
Seven hours across western Tenerife in a group of no more than eight people, with hotel pickup and a guide who works in Polish. Instead of a coach carrying fifty strangers you travel in an air-conditioned minibus, and the pace of the day is set by your group rather than by a timetable.
What you do on this tour
We start at the Mirador de Archipenque, a viewpoint above the Los Gigantes cliffs, where the rock wall drops straight into the ocean. From here you see the full length of it, which is impossible from the harbour below.
Next we climb into the Teno mountains. From the viewpoint you look down into the Masca valley, and minutes later you are driving into it along a narrow road of tight switchbacks. In Masca itself, a former pirate village, there is time for a barraquito coffee and a walk between the stone houses.
The next stop is Garachico. Volcanic lava once flooded the town, and that lava carved the natural pools you see today. When conditions allow, you can swim in them. The day ends in Icod de los Vinos at the Drago Milenario, a dragon tree over a thousand years old.
Food is not included in the price, but we stop at local guachinches, family run eating houses where you get the same food as the residents at local prices.
Who this is for (and who it is not)
It suits people who would rather not share a bus with several dozen strangers and who want to ask the guide questions all day. It works well for families, couples and groups of friends travelling together who want the vehicle to themselves.
If you are looking for the cheapest island tour, this is not it. Note also that the guide works in Polish, so book it if that is your language. The road down to Masca is narrow and full of bends, worth considering if anyone gets badly car sick.
Practical information
The tour lasts 7 hours and starts between 8:30 and 9:30 with a pickup at your hotel, anywhere on the island. If you are staying elsewhere, write to us, because the trip can also be arranged from other parts of the island. Dates are set individually, so mark your preferred day in the booking form and we confirm the rest afterwards.
Your ticket with the exact time and meeting point arrives by email within 24 hours of booking. The order of the stops may change depending on the weather and road conditions. Cancellation is free up to 72 hours before the start with a 100% refund.
Not sure whether to pick this route or the Teide version. Write to us and we will tell you which fits your holiday plan better.

FAQ
The group is capped at 8 people and you travel in an air-conditioned minibus or a smaller vehicle. That is the main difference from a standard island tour, where a coach carries several dozen passengers and collects them from one hotel after another.
The tour lasts 7 hours and begins between 8:30 and 9:30 with a pickup at your hotel. We confirm the exact time on your ticket, which is emailed to you within 24 hours of booking.
The guide works in Polish, so this tour suits Polish-speaking travellers. If you need a tour in English, ask us and we will point you to a different departure covering similar stops on the island.
No. Lunch is not included, but we stop at local guachinches, family run Canarian eating houses. Prices there are considerably lower than in the restaurants along the tourist beaches, and the food is what the residents actually eat.
Yes, if the ocean is calm enough. The natural pools in Garachico were formed by hardened lava and you can swim in them in settled conditions. Bring swimwear and a towel, although a swim is not a fixed part of the programme.
