Kayaking and Snorkelling Trip
About this experience
Two and a half hours on the water, half an hour of it below the surface with a mask and snorkel. You paddle along the volcanic coast of southern Tenerife towards the Palm Mar rocks, in a group of several kayaks, with an instructor. No experience is required.
What you do on this trip
We start on the beach in Los Cristianos. You are given a kayak, a life jacket and the rest of the equipment, and the instructor explains how to paddle and how to behave on the water. Then the group sets off together.
The route follows calm water along the rocky shore. This is a stretch you cannot see from land, because there is simply no road to it. Gulls circle above you, shoals of fish pass beneath, and the water is clear enough to see the bottom.
You head towards the Palm Mar rocks, with caves and grottoes carved into the basalt. Along the way you look into hidden beaches and natural pools that can only be reached from the sea.
At the end you stop at a spot where many species of fish live and get into the water with a mask and snorkel. The snorkelling lasts 30 minutes and is led by the instructor. If you are lucky, you will see a sea turtle surfacing or watch flying fish close up.
Who this is for (and who it is not)
It suits families and anyone who wants some activity rather than just sitting on a deck. Children can take part from age 6, and a single kayak holds a maximum of 3 people, for example two adults and a child.
If you are after a relaxed cruise with no effort, this is not it. You paddle for most of the time, and after two hours your shoulders will know it. You also need to be able to swim and be comfortable in the water.
The trip is run sustainably. We do not disturb wildlife and we collect litter floating on the surface as we go. The team monitors weather conditions throughout the trip.
Practical information
You can make your own way to the meeting point. If you are staying in Las Americas, Costa Adeje or Los Cristianos, we can arrange transport for 2 euros per person return, paid to the driver. Request it in the order comments.
Photos taken by the guide are an optional extra; ask for details when you arrive at the meeting point. Your ticket with the exact time and place arrives by email within 24 hours of booking. Cancellation is free up to 72 hours before the start with a 100% refund.
If your group includes a younger child or someone who has never been in a kayak, write to us before booking.
